MY SCHOOL MBSSKL

Methodist Boys’ Secondary School, Kuala Lumpur (MBSSKL) is a secondary school located in the city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was founded in July 1897 by William Kensett, a Methodist missionary.  Today, MBSSKL still maintains many aspects of the ethos of a missionary school. Over the years, it has been known as a premier missionary school noted for its strength in student character development and academic achievement.

The school badge consists of the words M.B.S. and a banner in (Yellow) against a background shield of Azure (Blue). Azure (Blue) represents the fact that all humanity shares the same sky and a sense of togetherness. It represents the harmony of all the races in MBSSKL, and that the importance of each individual is recognized. Yellow represents the excellence for which we are encouraged to strive for.

The school crest, as depicted in the graphic on the left, has changed somewhat throughout the years especially on the removal of a “white cross” upon which the text “MBS” sits. The removal of the cross was catered to the sensitivities of Muslim students and teachers and in line with tolerance and mutual respect for major religions in the country.
The motto, “Ora et Labora” means “Pray and Work” in Latin.
